The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), also known as Rijndael, is a block cipher adopted as an encryption standard by the U.S. government. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) established the new Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) specification on May 26, 2002. AES is a new cryptographic algorithm that can be used to protect electronic data. Specifically, AES is an iterative, symmetric-key block cipher that can use keys of 128, 192, and 256 bits, and encrypts and decrypts data in blocks of 128 bits (16 bytes).
AES is the successor to the older Data Encryption Standard (DES). DES was approved as a Federal standard in 1977 and remained viable until 1998 when numerous other successful attacks on DES-encrypted data have been made. On January 2, 1997, NIST announced that they wished to choose a successor to the DES to be known as the AES. Like DES, this was to be "an unclassified, publicly disclosed encryption algorithm capable of protecting sensitive government information well into the next century." On October 2, 2000, NIST announced that Rijndael, submitted by two Belgian cryptographers, Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen, had been selected as the proposed AES. The Rijndael algorithm was selected by the NIST as the proposal that best met the design criteria of security, implementation efficiency, versatility, and simplicity.
AES is now the de facto standard for encrypting all forms of electronic information, replacing DES. AES-encrypted data is unbreakable in the sense that no known cryptanalysis attack can decrypt the AES cipher text without using a brute-force search through all possible 256-bit keys.
SecuBox for Pocket PC is the Windows Mobile encryption software that protects private information carried on PDAs or PDA Phones. It secures confidential business information even in such catastrophic cases when the Windows Mobile device is lost or stolen. SecuBox encryption software ensures your business documents, contracts or projects stored on the PDA will never get into wrong hands.
In SecuBox, we use AES 256 bit encryption to protect confidential information stored on the mobile device. You will not have to choose from the multitude of encryption algorithms or different hashing methods, as the mere choice of the best industry standard algorithm offered by the program removes this burden off your shoulders. AES 256-bit is the most reliable, efficient and strong encryption algorithm available today.
By selecting Secubox as a PDA or smartphone data protection solution you can start protecting your sensitive data immediately - with no additional time spent on studying cryptography or encryption. It is is designed for security conscious people who value their time and need to keep their information secure.
